September 17 and 18 The 38th Annual “Johnny Appleseed Festival” opens on September 17 with a celebration of Johnny Appleseed’s 200th birthday. Two days of stage entertainment, handmade crafts, horse-drawn wagon rides and special kids’ activities will be paired with mouth-watering food including our signature Apple Butter Barbeque Ribs. Come thirsty because Johnny Juice, an “adult” apple cider created by our folks right here at Mapleside, will be officially introduced. Over 16,000 visitors came out last year for our JA Fest so get ready for one BIG weekend!
September 24 and 25 Pumpkin Village invites all Super Heroes to join the fun on Super Hero Weekend. Kids of all ages will want to wear their favorite super hero costume and meet the ‘REAL’ Super Heroes visiting for the weekend! You just may run into some of them in the Super Hero, Super Famous, and Super Huge Corn Maze. There’ll be face painting, special contests including “Best Super Hero Costume”, Super Hero baked goods and so much more! You can see why this is going to be a SUPER weekend.
September 30, October 1 and 2 Achtung! All Oktoberfest fans! Come visit Little Bavaria and experience all things German. Your favorite Oktoberfest foods and brews will be plentiful along with all of the Pumpkin Village attractions you’ve come to love! We have wunderbar musik coming your way, too, beginning with “Ralph the Accordion Man” “and “International Sound Machine” performing at our free Friday night “Concert Over The Valley” and again on Sunday. Saturday brings a very special group, “Deutecsher Musik Verein”, to entertain the Bavarian in all of us!
October 8 and 9 Pumpkinfest - Two days, 25 acres, and 82 varieties of pumpkins providing endless Pumpkin thrills! We just may be the first farm EVER to have all 82 known varieties in ONE pumpkin patch! Try your hand at the art of carving a Jack-o-Lantern in our Pumpkin Carving Contest or take a pumpkin carving class. If you’re feelin’ hungry, sign up for the ultimate Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest. No matter what you do, make sure you come pick out your own pumpkins to carve, decorate in the craft tent, and take home to enjoy for the holidays!
October 14, 15 and 16 Family Fall Foliage weekend promises to be the most beautiful weekend of the season with a million brilliantly colored leaves painted across the most picturesque valley in Ohio. You’ll observe a 50 mile panorama of shimmering seasonal foliage giving way to Autumn’s end. And don’t forget your camera so you can capture those phenomenal Fall scenes that are sure to amaze you. There’ll be fun family activities galore on this absolutely fantastic weekend!
October 22 and 23 Harvestfest will celebrate the First Fruits of the Harvest with seasonal foods, beverages and, of course, pies aplenty. Come and share your favorite recipes with other Pumpkin Village visitors and take home some great ideas for your upcoming holidays. You’ll be able to bag your own apples in the Apple Barn, too. And don’t forget to take in the rest of Pumpkin Village still going strong with hayrides, face painting, bonfires and more. It will be a Cornucopia of Fun!
October 29 and 30 Spookyfest will haunt you on this family-friendly weekend with spooky story times, spooky movie night, spooky inflatables, spooky games and the spookiest flash light corn maze adventure you could ever imagine! We’ll host a Halloween Costume Parade especially for the kids and Saturday Night Costume Party for ‘kids with long legs’ (adults only on this one).
November 5 wraps up Pumpkin Village with Pumpkin Smash Day, an awesome time of pumpkin throws, rolls, and slams. You’ll see Pumpkin Chunkin’ up close with our Catapult Competition and participate in some smashing good fun with contests especially for you! Seasonal foods and beverages will be served up along with lots of “down on the farm” fun.
